Ay carumba. Latinos now make up a majority of California's public school students, cracking the 50 percent barrier for the first time in the state's history, according to data released Friday by the state Department of Education.

Almost 50.4 percent of the state's students in the 2009-10 school year identified themselves as Hispanic or Latino, up 1.36 percent from the previous year.

In comparison, 27 percent of California's 6.2 million students identified themselves as white, 9 percent as Asian and 7 percent as black. Students calling themselves Filipino, Pacific Islander, Native American or other total almost 7 percent.

While the result was no surprise to educators, experts say the shift underscores the huge impact Latinos already have on California's politics, economy and school system.

The bail for Taryn Fairbanks, 33, was reduced from $50,000 to $25,000 during a brief arraignment in King County Superior Court. What teachers, parents, students and even his wife didn't know was that his journals contained decades of dark secrets, a running handwritten commentary of Ricks's world of obsession, infatuation, pursuit, sexual abuse and international child exploitation.

They didn't know about his library of homemade pornographic videos and explicit photographs capturing his tequila-soaked sex acts with teenage boys he had handpicked. They didn't know about the makeshift shrine boxes containing mementos of the episodes, including sex toys, soiled tissues and hair trimmings.
Even some of the victims didn't know they were victims.

A four-month Washington Post investigation of Ricks's career as a teacher, tutor, foreign exchange host and camp counselor has revealed a pattern of abuse that dates to at least 1978 and has left a trail of victims spanning the globe. APTOS - A 13-year-old girl says she had a sexual relationship with her math teacher at Aptos Junior High School and detectives are worried other students may have been victimized, the Sheriff's Office reported Friday.

The teacher, Steven Jay Sande, 60, was arrested Friday when sex crimes detectives served a search warrant at his Santa Cruz home, according to Sgt. Todd Liberty.Sande is suspected of having an ongoing sexual relationship with the girl, who was one of his students, during the spring and summer. They had sexual contact on campus, which is on Huntington Drive in Aptos, Liberty said. He said the two also "would go to secluded spots" in the Aptos area to be intimate. The contact continued into the summer, deputies reported.

The girl's parents discovered the alleged inappropriate relationship in July, according to the Sheriff's Office."They became suspicious based on unusual behavior at home," Liberty said.Deputies searched Sande's house, on Esmeralda Court in the Carbonera Estates neighborhood, Friday morning. They seized possible evidence, including computers, but have yet to sift through all of the items.

A Department of Education investigation into the drowning of sixth grader Nicole Suriel during a class trip to Long Beach slammed Columbia Secondary School for poor planning that led to the tragedy. The beach had numerous signs noting there were no lifeguards on duty; there were three adults supervising the 24 students. The DOE fired first-year teacher Erin Bailey and disciplined assistant principal Andrew Stillman and Principal Jose Maldonado-Rivera.

The Daily News runs down some of the findings, including how "Assistant Principal Andrew Stillman decided at the last minute not to go, staying behind to do administrative work. Bailey's boyfriend - former teacher Joseph Garnevicus, 28 - went in Stillman's place, but couldn't swim." Also, "There weren't specific permission slips, just 'blanket' slips from the start of the year that didn't include swimming." The "blanket slips" were only for trips in Manhattan; instead of issuing a permission slip to parents, Stillman simply emailed them, "We're headed to the beach tomorrow."

No evidence of an impending attack was discovered in the building.

Bruco Strong Eagle Eastwood, 32, entered his plea in Jefferson County District Court, and was ordered to undergo a mental evaluation at the state Mental Health Institute in Pueblo. The evaluation would take at least 45 days.

Eastwood faces 15 charges, including attempted first-degree murder in the Feb. 23 shootings outside Deer Creek Middle School in south suburban Denver. Teachers tackled and restrained Eastwood until deputies arrived.

He faces decades in prison if convicted of the charges or an indefinite amount of time in a mental health institute if found not guilty by reason of insanity.

Before Eastwood accepted the plea, District Judge Christopher Munch told him that "commitment could be the rest of your life." Eastwood nodded that he understood.

Prosecutors are seeking access to observations of Eastwood's actions in jail and conversations between Eastwood and a psychologist made on a jail phone.

Jersey's governor got back some $$$ his state's teachers stole because they don't actually work while molesting kids. What's an indicator of school crime? It may be acid-dropping during lunch, or a vicious assault of a bullied student. Perhaps an indicator is the epidemic of teacher/student molestation, or the murders of students by students. Whatever it is, the guvment thought it would be a cool money-waster to esspla'n it in crayon for the non-interested, illiterate public - the product of guvment educacion.

In the report, there's no definition for "Indicator," but "Crime" is defined as:

"Any violation of a statute or regulation or any act that the government has determined is injurious to the public, including felonies and misdemeanors. Such violation may or may not involve violence, and it may affect individuals or property."

Here are some highlights about indicators of school crime, or acts committed in a school which is "injurious [...] including felonies and misdemeanors [which] may or may not involve violence" (as though this was difficult to imagine):

Violent Deaths

From July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008, there were 21 homicides and 5 suicides of school-age youth (ages 5–18) at school

School Environment

During the 2007–08 school year, 85 percent of public schools recorded that one or more incidents of crime had taken place at school, amounting to an estimated 2.0 million crimes
25 percent of public schools reported that bullying occurred among students on a daily or weekly basis, and 11 percent reported that student acts of disrespect for teachers other than verbal abuse took place on a daily or weekly basis.

34 percent of teachers agreed or strongly agreed that student misbehavior interfered with their teaching, and 32 percent reported that student tardiness and class cutting interfered with their teaching. Seventy-two percent of teachers agreed or strongly agreed that other teachers at their school enforced the school rules, and 89 percent reported that the principal enforced the school rules. *LIE*

Fights, Weapons, and Illegal Substances

In 2007, 36 percent of students in grades 9–12 reported they had been in a fight anywhere, and 12 percent said they had been in a fight on school property during the preceding 12 months

Fear and Avoidance

In 2007, approximately 5 percent of students ages 12–18 reported that they were afraid of attack or harm at school, and 3 percent reported that they were afraid of attack or harm away from school

Discipline, Safety, and Security Measures

Between the 1999–2000 and 2007–08 school years, there was an increase in the percentage of public schools reporting the use of the following safety and security measures: [...] students required to wear badges or picture IDs [...] faculty required to wear badges or picture IDs [...] the use of one or more security cameras to monitor school

I Corinthians 13:11 states "When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things."

In this text, Paul is referring to a natural phenomenon to make a spiritual application. It is natural to grow up. To become mature. To no longer act and think like a child. To put those things away and embrace responsibility, maturity, manhood, womanhood. And so it should be when it comes to spiritual matters is Paul's point. In America however, not only is spiritual immaturity a problem, but natural immaturity is a problem.

Though some are beginning to realize and write about the problem of ‘perpetual adolescence' in American society, few are able to isolate the causes. One prevailing cause for perpetual adolescence amongst Americans is our American education system – it breeds perpetual adolescence.

The President: Hello everyone – how’s everybody doing today? I’m here with students at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. And we’ve got students tuning in from all across America, kindergarten through twelfth grade. I’m glad you all could join us today.

I know that for many of you, today is the first day of school. And for those of you in kindergarten, or starting middle or high school, it’s your first day in a new school, so it’s understandable if you’re a little nervous. I imagine there are some seniors out there who are feeling pretty good right now, with just one more year to go. And no matter what grade you’re in, some of you are probably wishing it were still summer, and you could’ve stayed in bed just a little longer this morning.

I know that feeling. When I was young, my family lived in Indonesia for a few years, and my mother didn’t have the money to send me where all the American kids went to school. So she decided to teach me extra lessons herself, Monday through Friday – at 4:30 in the morning.

Now I wasn’t too happy about getting up that early. A lot of times, I’d fall asleep right there at the kitchen table. But whenever I’d complain, my mother would just give me one of those looks and say, "This is no picnic for me either, buster."

So I know some of you are still adjusting to being back at school. But I’m here today because I have something important to discuss with you. I’m here because I want to talk with you about your education and what’s expected of all of you in this new school year.

Now I’ve given a lot of speeches about education. And I’ve talked a lot about responsibility.

I’ve talked about your teachers’ responsibility for inspiring you, and pushing you to learn.

I’ve talked about your parents’ responsibility for making sure you stay on track, and get your homework done, and don’t spend every waking hour in front of the TV or with that Xbox.

I’ve talked a lot about your government’s responsibility for setting high standards, supporting teachers and principals, and turning around schools that aren’t working where students aren’t getting the opportunities they deserve.

But at the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, and the best schools in the world – and none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities. Unless you show up to those schools; pay attention to those teachers; listen to your parents, grandparents and other adults; and put in the hard work it takes to succeed.

And that’s what I want to focus on today: the responsibility each of you has for your education. I want to start with the responsibility you have to yourself.

Every single one of you has something you’re good at. Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is. That’s the opportunity an education can provide.

Maybe you could be a good writer – maybe even good enough to write a book or articles in a newspaper – but you might not know it until you write a paper for your English class. Maybe you could be an innovator or an inventor – maybe even good enough to come up with the next iPhone or a new medicine or vaccine – but you might not know it until you do a project for your science class. Maybe you could be a mayor or a Senator or a Supreme Court Justice, but you might not know that until you join student government or the debate team.

And no matter what you want to do with your life – I guarantee that you’ll need an education to do it. You want to be a doctor, or a teacher, or a police officer? You want to be a nurse or an architect, a lawyer or a member of our military? You’re going to need a good education for every single one of those careers. You can’t drop out of school and just drop into a good job. You’ve got to work for it and train for it and learn for it.

And this isn’t just important for your own life and your own future. What you make of your education will decide nothing less than the future of this country. What you’re learning in school today will determine whether we as a nation can meet our greatest challenges in the future.

You’ll need the knowledge and problem-solving skills you learn in science and math to cure diseases like cancer and AIDS, and to develop new energy technologies and protect our environment. You’ll need the insights and critical thinking skills you gain in history and social studies to fight poverty and homelessness, crime and discrimination, and make our nation more fair and more free. You’ll need the creativity and ingenuity you develop in all your classes to build new companies that will create new jobs and boost our economy.

We need every single one of you to develop your talents, skills and intellect so you can help solve our most difficult problems. If you don’t do that – if you quit on school – you’re not just quitting on yourself, you’re quitting on your country.

Now I know it’s not always easy to do well in school. I know a lot of you have challenges in your lives right now that can make it hard to focus on your schoolwork.

I get it. I know what that’s like. My father left my family when I was two years old, and I was raised by a single mother who struggled at times to pay the bills and wasn’t always able to give us things the other kids had. There were times when I missed having a father in my life. There were times when I was lonely and felt like I didn’t fit in.

So I wasn’t always as focused as I should have been. I did some things I’m not proud of, and got in more trouble than I should have. And my life could have easily taken a turn for the worse.

But I was fortunate. I got a lot of second chances and had the opportunity to go to college, and law school, and follow my dreams. My wife, our First Lady Michelle Obama, has a similar story. Neither of her parents had gone to college, and they didn’t have much. But they worked hard, and she worked hard, so that she could go to the best schools in this country.

Some of you might not have those advantages. Maybe you don’t have adults in your life who give you the support that you need. Maybe someone in your family has lost their job, and there’s not enough money to go around. Maybe you live in a neighborhood where you don’t feel safe, or have friends who are pressuring you to do things you know aren’t right.

But at the end of the day, the circumstances of your life – what you look like, where you come from, how much money you have, what you’ve got going on at home – that’s no excuse for neglecting your homework or having a bad attitude. That’s no excuse for talking back to your teacher, or cutting class, or dropping out of school. That’s no excuse for not trying.

Where you are right now doesn’t have to determine where you’ll end up. No one’s written your destiny for you. Here in America, you write your own destiny. You make your own future.

That’s what young people like you are doing every day, all across America.

Young people like Jazmin Perez, from Roma, Texas. Jazmin didn’t speak English when she first started school. Hardly anyone in her hometown went to college, and neither of her parents had gone either. But she worked hard, earned good grades, got a scholarship to Brown University, and is now in graduate school, studying public health, on her way to being Dr. Jazmin Perez.

I’m thinking about Andoni Schultz, from Los Altos, California, who’s fought brain cancer since he was three. He’s endured all sorts of treatments and surgeries, one of which affected his memory, so it took him much longer – hundreds of extra hours – to do his schoolwork. But he never fell behind, and he’s headed to college this fall.

And then there’s Shantell Steve, from my hometown of Chicago, Illinois. Even when bouncing from foster home to foster home in the toughest neighborhoods, she managed to get a job at a local health center; start a program to keep young people out of gangs; and she’s on track to graduate high school with honors and go on to college.

Jazmin, Andoni and Shantell aren’t any different from any of you. They faced challenges in their lives just like you do. But they refused to give up. They chose to take responsibility for their education and set goals for themselves. And I expect all of you to do the same.

That’s why today, I’m calling on each of you to set your own goals for your education – and to do everything you can to meet them. Your goal can be something as simple as doing all your homework, paying attention in class, or spending time each day reading a book. Maybe you’ll decide to get involved in an extracurricular activity, or volunteer in your community. Maybe you’ll decide to stand up for kids who are being teased or bullied because of who they are or how they look, because you believe, like I do, that all kids deserve a safe environment to study and learn. Maybe you’ll decide to take better care of yourself so you can be more ready to learn. And along those lines, I hope you’ll all wash your hands a lot, and stay home from school when you don’t feel well, so we can keep people from getting the flu this fall and winter.

Whatever you resolve to do, I want you to commit to it. I want you to really work at it.

I know that sometimes, you get the sense from TV that you can be rich and successful without any hard work -- that your ticket to success is through rapping or basketball or being a reality TV star, when chances are, you’re not going to be any of those things.

But the truth is, being successful is hard. You won’t love every subject you study. You won’t click with every teacher. Not every homework assignment will seem completely relevant to your life right this minute. And you won’t necessarily succeed at everything the first time you try.

That’s OK. Some of the most successful people in the world are the ones who’ve had the most failures. JK Rowling’s first Harry Potter book was rejected twelve times before it was finally published. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team, and he lost hundreds of games and missed thousands of shots during his career. But he once said, "I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

These people succeeded because they understand that you can’t let your failures define you – you have to let them teach you. You have to let them show you what to do differently next time. If you get in trouble, that doesn’t mean you’re a troublemaker, it means you need to try harder to behave. If you get a bad grade, that doesn’t mean you’re stupid, it just means you need to spend more time studying.

No one’s born being good at things, you become good at things through hard work. You’re not a varsity athlete the first time you play a new sport. You don’t hit every note the first time you sing a song. You’ve got to practice. It’s the same with your schoolwork. You might have to do a math problem a few times before you get it right, or read something a few times before you understand it, or do a few drafts of a paper before it’s good enough to hand in.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. I do that every day. Asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength. It shows you have the courage to admit when you don’t know something, and to learn something new. So find an adult you trust – a parent, grandparent or teacher; a coach or counselor – and ask them to help you stay on track to meet your goals.

And even when you’re struggling, even when you’re discouraged, and you feel like other people have given up on you – don’t ever give up on yourself. Because when you give up on yourself, you give up on your country.

The story of America isn’t about people who quit when things got tough. It’s about people who kept going, who tried harder, who loved their country too much to do anything less than their best.

It’s the story of students who sat where you sit 250 years ago, and went on to wage a revolution and found this nation. Students who sat where you sit 75 years ago who overcame a Depression and won a world war; who fought for civil rights and put a man on the moon. Students who sat where you sit 20 years ago who founded Google, Twitter and Facebook and changed the way we communicate with each other.

So today, I want to ask you, what’s your contribution going to be? What problems are you going to solve? What discoveries will you make? What will a president who comes here in twenty or fifty or one hundred years say about what all of you did for this country?

Your families, your teachers, and I are doing everything we can to make sure you have the education you need to answer these questions. I’m working hard to fix up your classrooms and get you the books, equipment and computers you need to learn. But you’ve got to do your part too. So I expect you to get serious this year. I expect you to put your best effort into everything you do. I expect great things from each of you. So don’t let us down – don’t let your family or your country or yourself down. Make us all proud. I know you can do it.

I was saddened to see this entry by a young person at the Marion County Fair in Indianapolis, IN yesterday. In the creative writing category, some kid wrote about Zombie School. Perhaps he was writing about his own school?

Since when is this considered quality work coming from our nation's youth? Why was this trash even allowed an entry at the county fair? You won't see a home schooler writing this junk.

The incident occurred in April 2008 at McSwain Elementary School, a K-8 school in Merced, Calif. Amador alleges in her legal complaint that school Principal Terrie Rohrer, Assistant Principal C.W. Smith and office clerk Martha Hernandez mistreated her daughter and denied the girl her First Amendment rights when they ordered her to leave the cafeteria and change her shirt.

The following is a response to a self-proclaimed "bisexual" math teacher in a publik skool. It's from a thread for an earlier post: "Cash Incentive: Florida schools cook-the-books on higher grades, kids still pretty dang stupid."

I've been so busy supporting a family and protesting perverts that I had forgotten to respond, but managed to find the time now to do so. Due to its length, my wife, Danielle, thought it would be wise to make this a new post.

Wow. I hit a raw nerve, but of course I knew I would. A simple "You're wrong" would've sufficed. Instead, you exposed an obvious need to justify your continued participation in a system which has not only failed and continues to fail in every possible way, but also harms children by the millions.

"Government Schools Destroy Children's Minds" is more than just a bumper sticker I have on my car. It's a reality.

Among many things and aside from YOUR OWN ADMISSION in this post of how academically crippling the system is, public schools provide a convenient "one-stop shopping" experience for child molesters where children are held captive. They are at the mercy of these predators who flock to these "mandatory" child corrals because therein lies easy prey, and lots of it, too. For a predator, this is exciting because the “hunt” is made easier with a higher “kill” rate compared to the regular Thailand-style, street-trash action. And by default, the parents of these children, by sending them to these hell-holes, have demonstrated to the world their tremendous lack of care, concern and love for their own kids. Children of parents who don't care for them are vulnerable to the perverts who would exploit their vulnerabilities, initially by pretending to care, becoming surrogate parents so to speak. Later and after trust is gained by the perverts, they begin to molest the kids. Sound familiar? It should:

Any man who thinks this is perverse, and it takes a real sicko to admit it as you did. Real men don't look at other men's children and say, "I think of them as my own children." That's bizarre, especially since you don't have any children. You can't make this "parenthood" claim of the students since you have no real understanding of having children of your own. For all anyone knows, your concept of parenting involves molestation.

I know good people who are without children yet have a proper understanding of parenthood and would be excellent parents. But unlike you, they don't parade themselves as parents of other children. You don’t possess a smattering of real parenthood, so don't be pathetic in the eyes of 2 billion+ mothers and fathers around the planet because of your unqualified and undignified self-proclamation as being what they are: Real parents. You're a wannabe, which means you aren't. So again, don't delude yourself, this time with believing you're the parent of other people's kids. The "I'm their parent" delusion is a poor cover for the obvious: Publik skool teachers are nothing more than glorified babysitters complacent about sucking what they can from the public teat while destroying children, and you're no exception. In fact, you’re their poster child.

Yes. And yes. Can it be that difficult for you to understand or believe?

It wasn't difficult determining you as a pervert; I already knew this simply by your profession and your effeminate "I think I can make a difference" garbage. (Believe it when I say every publik skool teacher says the same rubbish about his profession. You all parrot each other and don't even realize it.)

You don't know me from Adam, but you still told me about your perverted self by revealing how, well into adulthood, you're still confused about the roles of men and women which is naturally obvious, and how they apply to your own life. My 5 and 6 year-olds understand the natural roles of men and women, and you don't.

And you think you’re qualified to teach?

“Consider this - you are just assuming that I'm attracted to kids because of what? The fact that I'm bisexual? That's really all you got.”

You have no business teaching or even being near children especially when you can't grasp even the simplest of matters understood by children. Further, your confusion in being a depraved “bisexual” – an absolute offense to nature – will only confuse your students as well as encourage them to also be depraved. (“It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher.” -Mat. 10:25)

Am I assuming that you’re a pervert because you wished you “had the nerve” to be prom queen in your high school and would’ve “worn a dress” to secure the crown wanted by girls? Is it safe to assume that you would encourage some teen boy (of whom you helped confuse) to also pursue wearing a dress in order to become prom queen, ya know, YOUR "WISH"? You wouldn’t vicariously live through your students like so many of your less emotionally burdened, publik skool contemporaries, would ya?

You don’t know me – I am a stranger – yet you’ve revealed of yourself these perverse things to me. (And this excludes whatever is on your blog.) If so easily to me, then you definitely have no qualms about letting lose your sexual perversion in whatever form upon the students who are like your "own children."

This is wicked, but let’s test your convictions.

Continuing the bad charade of public education is, as you say, “worth it” if you feel appreciated when one kid finally learns “something” – out of the thousands who obviously learn nothing. But let’s be honest: You don’t care about that one kid or any kids. It’s the feelings of appreciation you care for because they loosely affirm your existence as a public school teacher, and such affirmations are desperately sought by your kind because your profession is hopeless. Also, the “nonsense” you referred to (which is “worth” your being appreciated) includes of students':

rape;
molestation;
murder;
sub-standard “education”;
harassment, both sexual and in general;
sexual promiscuity;
homosexuality;
stupidity;
atheism; and
rebellion, just to name a few.

All, however, lead to misery and death and are found in every publik skool, nary a one without 3, 4, most or all others in tow.

So then, are your feelings of appreciation worth destroying kids? Is it worth the humiliation experienced day-in and day-out by the scores of girls who are sexually harassed without consequence every day in your school alone? Is your lust for appreciation worth the school-sponsored degradation of the self-images of these girls to that of mere sex objects? Is giving children sub-standard education and dumbing them down worth bolstering your ego’s appreciation factor? Is maintaining the failed publik skool system so you can get your jollies worth turning boys into perverts like you, their teacher, whether by harassing girls or wearing dresses? And so on, and so on, and so on?

Answer the questions. YES OR NO? They’re not complicated.

Aren't you happy to know that when your kid goes to that high quality High School Art Class at Kennedy High School that they'll receive only the best in art appreciation teaching?

Perhaps they'll learn the finer points of Monet. Maybe they'll come to a greater understanding of Michelangelo's inspiration. Whatever it is, be certain that they won't be taking photos of bloody crime scenes where it looks like a murder has taken place. Certainly, that would only represent a culture of death, not one of life. Schools are full of life, aren't they?

Do boys play cops and robbers or cowboys and indians at home? Yes they do. But there's a key difference between that play and this 'art'. That difference is that the bad guys aren't naturally celebrated in healthy crime play.

Here we have Cooper Elementary in Detroit, MI. Wasteful public spending to say the least! The school was abandoned after new schools were funded by gambling programs.

However, instead of taking what taxpayers had already spent and being wise stewards of our resources, they just abandoned the school with many a room left like this. Those rooms were full of books, furniture and media. Now, it's all trashed.

Here's a thought. Home based learners don't face this problem. The books and media get used, and then used again for younger children. At home, you don't buy a book just to throw it out.

A Detroit teen surrendered to city police today in connection with Tuesday’s shootings near Cody 9th Grade Academy that wounded seven teens. But police said at least two more people were involved — and issued a warning.

Police said Jamel Turner, 18, of Detroit was one of two gunmen who used semiautomatic handguns to spray gunfire at a crowd waiting at a bus stop after summer classes.

Police are looking for a second gunman and the driver of the getaway vehicle, a green minivan. A fourth person was arrested Tuesday evening on an unrelated warrant, and is being questioned in the case.

Shortly after the news that Turner had turned himself in, his Facebook page began filling with messages from friends praying for him and the victims.

Gerald Davison pleaded guilty to first-degree murder with a deadly weapon and attempted murder for the 2008 drive-by shooting.

Davison, a sophomore at Palo Verde, opened fire near the school in broad daylight as students were walking home from class, authorities said. The brazen shooting shocked teachers, students and residents who lived and worked in the area.

During a short hearing in District Court, Davison confessed to firing the fatal round that killed 15-year-old Privett.

Lee Tibbetts was arrested after police said two former students made accusations against him.

A 13-year-old said Tibbetts molested him and threatened to flunk him if he told anyone. A second boy claimed he was solicited for sex.

The crimes allegedly happened while Tibbetts was teaching at John Marshall Community High School in Indianapolis.

Tibbetts was arrested on five counts of child molestation and one count of child solicitation involving the second student.

Tibbetts taught at three Cincinnati elementary schools including, Hoffman School in Evanston and Bond Hill School.

A D.L. Perez Elementary School teacher arrested for allegedly touching and videotaping his students inappropriately is being held on $50,000 bail.

Frederick Emerson Fernsler, 55, appeared in the Superior Court of Guam on Saturday. He was charged with:

Second-degree criminal sexual conduct as a first-degree felony;

Child abuse as a misdemeanor;

andOfficial misconduct as a misdemeanor.

According to the magistrate's complaint against Fernsler, when an 11-year-old female student bent over in class, Fernsler allegedly "grabbed her hips from behind and started thrusting his pelvis against her buttocks."

The report makes no mention of cameras Fernsler allegedly hid in his classroom -- where students would change clothing. Police found the cameras May 21, according to a GPD news release issued last week.

Office of the Attorney General spokesman Eric Palacios said yesterday more charges may be filed against Fernsler. Mae Blas, public information officer for the U.S. Attorney's Office, said no federal charges had been filed against Fernsler, but she couldn't comment on pending cases.

She was arraigned Friday on seven counts of second-degree rape, 14 counts of third-degree sexual abuse and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

The next court date for Weber, who resides on Long Island, will be June 15 in Queens County Criminal Court. Weber denied the charges in a statement released through police after the arraignment. When questioned, she painted the boy as the one who made advances by, for instance, grabbing her buttocks.

Some adults dismissed the statistic as a blip. Others blamed hit movies like Juno and Knocked Up for glamorizing young unwed mothers. But principal Joseph Sullivan knows at least part of the reason there's been such a spike in teen pregnancies in this Massachusetts fishing town. School officials started looking into the matter as early as October, after an unusual number of girls began filing into the school clinic to find out if they were pregnant.
