Gangsta, gangsta: Murderous gang-teen pleads guilty for shooting student, gets "life"

Publik skooler gets "smoked" for flashing gang signs. "Squad Up Fo' life!" is what 17-year-old Davison yelled while holding hands with his new wife, Big Brutus, from his L.V. jail cell. (Just wait, Junior. Prison ain't all the rappers crack it up to be.) Article says he was part of "Squad Up," a hybrid-gang defined as a gang made up of members from other gangs, an aberration in gang culture. In the U.S., Las Vegas is the only city where the hybrid-gang phenomenon occurs, and it's publik skool system enables it to thrive and kill.

Las Vegas Review-Journal -- July 2, 2009

The 17-year-old teen accused of shooting and killing Palo Verde High School freshman Christopher Privett pleaded guilty Wednesday to murder, bringing a close to one of the highest profile slayings in 2008.

Gerald Davison pleaded guilty to first-degree murder with a deadly weapon and attempted murder for the 2008 drive-by shooting.

Davison, a sophomore at Palo Verde, opened fire near the school in broad daylight as students were walking home from class, authorities said. The brazen shooting shocked teachers, students and residents who lived and worked in the area.

During a short hearing in District Court, Davison confessed to firing the fatal round that killed 15-year-old Privett.
