Jury acquits Tavares teacher of groping and kissing girl

John Peter Salamon served as Tavares teacher, coach and athletic director; received six other complaints against him within last decade; 'Dogded a Train'

Tavares High School teacher and former athletic director John Peter Salamon was acquitted today of groping and kissing a teenage girl in the school library.

But Circuit Judge T. Michael Johnson chastised the longtime educator, saying he found Salamon's behavior with female students to be "grotesquely inappropriate."

"I can tell you, sir, you dodged a train in this case," Johnson said. "I hope you change your behavior in this regard."
