Hudson High briefly evacuated after bomb threat found

This high school, unlike its various counterparts featured in this blog, had its students back in their seats about 90 minutes after the police were first alerted to the bomb threat. I figured the generally accepted protocol for bomb threat situations was to send the kiddies home early so the faculty/staff can neglect its babysitting duties for the day. Well, apparently that doesn't apply during standardized testing which the school had scheduled for that day. My guess is that the p-skoolers performed worse than their expected *bust* because of the artarded, yet short-lived circus caused by a mere note in the girls' bathroom.

MetroWest Daily News -- June 5, 2009

Hudson - Authorities evacuated Hudson High School for more than an hour yesterday after officials found a bomb threat written in a girls' lavatory, officials said.

Police Capt. David Stephens said police were speaking with a person of interest yesterday and charges could be filed.

Hudson High School Principal John Stapelfeld said a note, saying a bomb was in the building, was found just before 9 a.m. School officials called the police and evacuated the school.

"We felt it was credible," said Stapelfeld.

Yeah, the school has gotten two bomb threats this year, both in the girls bathroom. And we evacuate the classroom, and go into the back field for a while. The bomb threat was announced as a fire drill, though.

Ian, do you find it disturbing that you're forced to go to a place where there's a real expectation of a bomb going off? It's as if you were in Beirut or Iraq or somewhere.
